Commanding Officer, Michael Dreelan, has officially opened The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) funded 1.4-mile Trim Trail on HMS Excellent.

With over 2,500 gym users each month, many of whom work in Navy Command HQ, there was a growing need for more space for people to use during their physical training exercises. A multi-purpose Trim Trail was deemed necessary so as to offer naval personnel equipment they wouldn't otherwise have access to.

The new 1.4-mile Trim Trail was built following RNRMC funding and now offers a competitive element to physical training on the base. Users of the course can look to place on the 'Fastest Time' leaderboard which will be publicised every month.

Andrew Davidson, Petty Officer Physical Trainer, who helped lead the project said:

"The support the RNRMC has shown to HMS Excellent over recent years has been amazing.  The introduction of the Trim Trail to HMS Excellent will boost facilities and undoubtedly improve the moral component of operational capability."
