The aircraft carrier has been designated to lead a carrier strike group consisting of eight ships. This formidable group includes four British ships, such as the frigate HMS Somerset and two Tide-class tankers from the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, in addition to vessels from the United States, Spain, and Denmark. Together, they comprise a robust naval force that is part of the Steadfast Defender exercise. This exercise involves a multinational fleet of 40 ships from over two dozen nations, undertaking maritime operations off Norway's Arctic coast from late February through March.
