Zadie and Julie, from Connaught House Veterinary Group in Wolverhampton, are taking on an extraordinary challenge to raise funds for Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), spreading joy and inspiration across the West Midlands and the UK as they participate in the Race Across the UK.
Race Across the UK invites participants to embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, travelling from Edinburgh to Dartmouth without map apps, cars or planes - relying solely on their wits, a map, and what they can carry - all to raise vital funds in support of Naval families.
Team Pawsitivity – aptly named for their commitment to helping pets in their daily jobs, sharing smiles and supporting good causes – are tackling RNRMC’s nationwide challenge in a bid to promote the wonderful work of the RNRMC, highlight the importance of mental health and wellbeing and support the invaluable work of the charity dedicated to supporting serving personnel, veterans, and their loved ones.
For us both, having family members who served in the Navy and Marines has always been a source of pride and inspiration. We have long admired the amazing work that RNRMC does. This challenge is a way to give something back, raise vital funds, and shine a spotlight on the mental health benefits of taking on something so meaningful.
For Team Pawsitivity, it’s not only a physical challenge but a chance to connect with communities on a deeper level, and encourage open conversations about health and wellbeing. They hope to inspire others in the West Midlands and across the UK to join in, support RNRMC, and recognise the physical, mental and emotional benefits of movement and mindfulness.
“We believe in the power of positivity – and what better way to express that than by helping those who’ve given so much in service to our country,” they added.
