8 August – Alford School of Military Music, HMNB Portsmouth

Today, the Royal Marines School of Music celebrated its annual Passing Out Parade, marking the completion of Phase 2 music training for Royal Marines musicians and buglers. Held at the Alford School of Military Music in HMNB Portsmouth, the event recognised the hard work, dedication, and achievements of those who have completed their final M3/B3 examinations.

The parade also welcomed back 10 ranks from the wider Band Service who passed in the past year, returning to celebrate alongside their peers. Together, they demonstrated the skill, precision and professionalism that defines the Royal Marines Band Service.

Six training prizes were awarded during the event, recognising outstanding musical ability, improvement and leadership. The prizes were presented by the event's VIP guest, administered by Corporal Loveridge and announced by the Bandmaster of Training.

Graduates now move on to serve with Royal Marines Bands across the country, taking part in ceremonial duties, public performances, and operational deployments – continuing the proud legacy of music, service, and support within the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity congratulates all those who passed out today and wishes them every success in the next stage of their careers.
