Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) was honoured to receive complimentary tickets to the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, courtesy of the Wimbledon Foundation, the official charity of the All England Lawn Tennis Club and The Championships.
On Sunday 6 July 2025, several RNRMC beneficiaries had the opportunity to attend a match on Centre Court – an unforgettable experience for many, including 15-year-old Oliver.
Oliver, whose dad serves in the Royal Navy, lives with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In addition, he experiences anxiety, partially linked to a serious road traffic accident (RTA) he was involved in at the age of four. He takes prescribed medication to help manage his ADHD symptoms and support his sleep.
Though social situations, particularly in noisy or crowded environments, can often prove difficult for Oliver, he was thrilled to be offered tickets to one of the world’s most iconic sporting events.
Reflecting on their day at Wimbledon, Oliver’s dad said:
Wimbledon was brilliant. Oliver and I both thoroughly enjoyed the experience - had it not been for the charities, we wouldn’t have had the opportunity. But most of all, it’s wonderful to see how far Oliver has come with the support he’s received from Kids.
RNRMC Neurodiversity Champion, Hayley’s 13-year-old daughter also attended, and shared in the excitement of the day, watching a thrilling match unfold on Centre Court.
Hayley said: “As is pretty normal for military life, and especially those with children with disabilities, our plans had to change last minute. What was going to be a day for myself and my husband turned out being the best day for my husband and our daughter. Esmee’s younger brother has additional needs making her a young carer. Giving her this day to experience something she never has before (and that we wouldn’t be able to do as a family) will be something she will always remember.”
RNRMC extends its sincere thanks to the Wimbledon Foundation for once again providing this incredible opportunity, helping us to support the wellbeing and morale of our beneficiaries – individuals and families connected to the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
