HER ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCESS ROYAL CELEBRATES ROYAL NAVY CHARITIES

HRH The Princess Royal recently spent a day with four of the key charities supporting the serving and ex-serving personnel from the Royal Navy, WRNS, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary and their families.

The visit began at HMS Excellent; Her Royal Highness met and was briefed by Trustees, Beneficiaries and Staff from the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity, of which The Princess Royal is Patron. 

Then was the 1st Annual Presentation of the WRNS Benevolent Trust in the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth Dockyard. Her Royal Highness, as Patron of the WRNS BT presided over the meeting and was introduced to a number of ex wrens, and other VIPs including Sir Nick Pope from Cobseo.

The visit concluded with the opening of ‘Lanyard House’ the new offices of the Association of Wrens and Women of the Royal Naval Services and of the Royal Naval Association. Representatives of the Association of Wrens including Captain Alison Towler Royal Navy, President of the Association of Wrens and Women of the Royal Naval Services and representatives from the Royal Naval Association including Vice Admiral Duncan Potts, National President of the Royal Naval Association briefed Her Royal Highness on all the latest news from the charities.

It was a fantastic visit, giving Her Royal Highness an opportunity to speak with beneficiaries and understand what the RNRMC is doing and our plans for the future. It gave us an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the strength of the partnerships across the Naval Charity sector and beyond.
