The Royal Navy Recovery Centre (RNRC) Hasler has successfully exceeded its fundraising target in support of their team’s entry into Race Across the UK, raising money for Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), a charity that plays a vital role in providing lifelong support to those who serve, or have served, in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.
Two patients from RNRC Hasler will take part in the event, working together to race from Edinburgh to Dartmouth over four days. Travelling the length of the UK, each team must pass through a series of checkpoints without the use of cars, planes, or digital map apps.
Fundraising efforts by Hasler Company have included a bake sale, charity golf day, marathon run and most recently - a road trip from Land’s End to John O’Groats and back, completed by patients AB Henry Cole and AB Dafydd Prytherch. Through their incredible effort, AB Cole and AB Prytherch raised a remarkable £550, helping RNRC Hasler surpass its original £3,000 fundraising target.
Established in September 2009, the Royal Navy Recovery Centre provides support for personnel with long-term conditions, injuries, and illnesses sustained during their service. The men and women at Hasler receive expert medical care, physiotherapy, and career guidance - enabling some to resume their military careers, while others are supported in transitioning to civilian life.
Speaking on behalf of the Hasler community, one patient said:
Overcoming a long-term injury or illness has been incredibly tough, both physically and mentally. The road to recovery isn’t always linear but access to opportunities funded by RNRMC has allowed us to enjoy the present and look forward to the future with renewed hope and strength. All of our recovery journeys here at Hasler are a testament to their commitment to our well-being and rehabilitation and we are profoundly grateful for their continued support.
