Celebrating families day at Horsea Island.

Event, Families, General, Serving Personnel

It was a pleasure to be part of the Joint Families Day at Horsea Island, hosted by the Defence Diving School (DDS) and the Diving and Threat Exploitation Group (DTXG). This vibrant summer gathering brought together serving personnel, support teams, and their families for an afternoon filled with relaxed entertainment, shared experiences and community connection.

The event offered families a valuable glimpse into the roles and working environment of their loved ones. Guests learned more about operational outputs and got a feel for the space where vital training and operations take place.

From paddle boarding and bouncy castles to balloon modelling and team-building activities, there was something for everyone. A BBQ - generously supported by ESS - kept spirits high, while face painting and refreshments added an extra layer of fun for attendees of all ages.

This year, DDS and DTXG delivered the event together, enabling greater value and reach. Many personnel across both units spend extended periods away from home, so this was a powerful opportunity to show appreciation to the families and loved ones who offer unwavering support behind the scenes.

RNRMC was proud to have supported a day that recognised the invaluable role families play in the strength and resilience of our Forces community. Events like this highlight just how vital connection and shared celebration are within military life.
