HMS Queen Elizabeth welcomed family members of the ship’s company aboard for a memorable Families Day.
Held at His Majesty's Naval Base Portsmouth, the event offered families and loved ones a special opportunity to step aboard the magnificent warship and gain insight into life at sea. For sailors with children, it offered a chance to see where their parents work, fostering a deeper understanding of their naval duties.
Guests enjoyed a variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment in a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere, with a rare opportunity to visit the control towers, explore the hangar, and walk across the expansive flight deck.
Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity was proud to stand alongside the wider Naval community, with volunteers at our stand providing valuable resources and information designed to help serving personnel and their families navigate the unique challenges of naval life, particularly during periods of separation.
Alongside the Families Day, Portsmouth Historic Quarter hosted a special VE Day 80 celebration, which took visitors on a journey back to 1945. It featured live music, dance, historic vessels, and engaging activities for all ages.
In commemoration of eight decades since Victory in Europe Day, Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity was delighted to host four remarkable Second World War veterans at the event, paying tribute to the strength, joy and unity of the wartime generation.
