Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) joined HMS Collingwood to mark a profoundly moving milestone — the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
RNRMC staff and volunteers were honoured to attend a heartwarming afternoon, rich in remembrance and community spirit, alongside 100 Royal Navy and Royal Marines veterans.
The event, complete with a traditional afternoon tea, was filled with music, memories and celebrations along with entertainment provided by The Not Forgotten Charity, commemorating the end of the Second World War, eighty years ago to the day.
As ever, RNRMC remains committed to supporting remembrance and fostering comradeship across the naval community. Through our valued partnership with Greenwich Hospital, our Remembrance and Comradeship Grants help connect veterans, serving personnel, and bereaved families with opportunities to come together, reflect and share stories in safe, supportive settings.
Gatherings like this provide the space for veterans to reconnect with former shipmates, share their stories, and find comfort in the company of those who truly understand their experiences. For many, these moments help ease feelings of isolation and reaffirm that they remain respected and cherished members of the naval family.
Through these grants we continue to honour the legacy of those who served, ensuring the stories, sacrifices, and spirit of our veterans are never forgotten.
We are deeply grateful to all who shared their memories with us on this remarkable day — your voices are the heartbeat of our Charity.
