The Heart of Oak Memorial Tree is a new permanent tribute located in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. It honours individuals connected to the Royal Navy who are no longer with us – from those who died in service or combat, to veterans, family members, and supporters of the Naval community.
Crafted in the shape of an oak tree and made from Royal Navy ship steel, it stands as a powerful symbol of the resilience, unity, and enduring spirit of the Royal Navy family.
The name is inspired by “Heart of Oak”, the official march of the Royal Navy. Oak has a deep-rooted connection to naval tradition – once used to build our ships, it now symbolises strength and remembrance through this memorial.
