Brian Duffin

Trustee

Brian has practised professionally as an actuary for 45 years and has held several positions with the actuaries’ professional body.  He worked in investment and marketing departments of the Scottish Life Assurance Company before being appointed as Chief Executive.  Unusually, he was also a director of a listed Edinburgh football club – Heart of Midlothian - at this time.  Scottish Life joined Royal London in 2001 and together they became the largest UK mutual life assurance company, of which he became its executive director. Since 2007 Brian has held senior appointments in pension schemes and insurance companies as well as being a non-executive director of the UK Debt Management Office for ten years.

Brian has been a trustee of Medical Research Scotland and Chair of the Church of Scotland Investors Trust, as well as being a trustee of the Church Investors Group, a charity which serves churches in the UK and the EU.
