Sir Bill Thomas is the co-proprietor of Hopton Estates in Derbyshire and is the Chairman of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity. He also Chairs Spirent Communications plc, Clarkson plc and Node4 Ltd. He has served as an independent non exec director of GFI Sarl, XChanging plc, Co op Bank plc, Balfour Beatty plc and VFS and is a member of the International Advisory Board of FireEye Inc. He chaired the Labour Party's Small Business Task Force, the Independent Review of Defence Procurement and was a member of Labour's Skills Task Force. He is a former Chair of the International Advisory Board of the Cranfield School of Management and, as Alumni President, served on the Cranfield University Council.
As an SVP he led Hewlett-Packard's EMEA enterprise services business, previously serving as an EVP and Corporate Officer of EDS. During this period he served for 9 years on the President's Committee of the CBI.
Bill received a Knighthood in the New Year Honours List 2020 for services to politics and charity.
