How the charity helps working age - veterans

The RFEA provides a comprehensive employment and job-finding service to ex-Service personnel. The majority of veterans come to the organisation at the point where their own job finding efforts and the help of Job Centre Plus have failed. This is typically three - five months after they have become unemployed. By working with them at this stage and enabling a high proportion of them to find a job, the RFEA ensures that they do not join the ranks of the longterm unemployed.

In addition, they provide employment help to spouses/partners of both serving personnel and Veterans. This is delivered through a network of 24 offices across the United Kingdom, supported by a number of specialist teams to support specific cohorts of vulnerable beneficiaries (including wounded, injured and sick Service Leavers, Early Service Leavers and Veterans in the Criminal Justice System). This ensures that help is available to all, irrespective of where they are in the country or their military rank.

As well as the direct benefit to the individual of re-entering paid employment, this reduces the burden on the State and potential welfare demand on other Service Charities.

Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity Grant

In March 2015, RFEA received a grant of £83,698 from The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity to help cover a large percentage of support for Royal Navy and Royal Marine clients they receive from 2015 - 2016. With an increase of 26 per cent in 2015, the money received was vital to keep providing their quality, essential service.

The service I received was brilliant and helped me massively with regards to finding employment. My Employment Advisor was quick to respond to any queries I had and offered support when required.

In 2015, 899 Naval Service veterans (630 ex-RN and 269 ex-RM) came to RFEA for employment help. It is predicted that the money provided by RNRMC equates to £93 per veteran, spouse or partner assisted into employment.

May I also take this opporunity to personally thank RFEA. With your support, my transition was relatively painless and I now find myself in a job that is both challenging and rewarding. Thank you again.
