Pickle Night

‘Sir, we have won great victory, but we have lost Lord Nelson!’

Join us as we celebrate Nelson’s famous victory and the return of HMS Pickle after the Battle of Trafalgar, and pay tribute to the historic events that unfolded over 200 years ago, at the charity’s first traditional Pickle Night.

China Fleet Country Club, Saltash

Fancy dress optional!

Pickle Night is a celebration of the news of Lord Nelson's success at the Battle of Trafalgar, brought home by Captain John Lapenotiere aboard HMS Pickle.

HMS Pickle was specially chosen to return home after the Battle of Trafalgar in October 1805 bringing news of Admiral Lord Nelson’s famous victory, as well as his untimely death.

Her return is celebrated each year by Senior Ratings and Warrant Officers during a night of fun and festivities.

Join us for an insight into this entertaining naval tradition. The evening will include:

  • Drinks reception on arrival
  • 3 course dinner with wine
  • Naval hosts bringing all the Pickle Night traditions
  • After dinner entertainment and live band

All proceeds from the event will help to ensure all current and former serving personnel and their families are valued and supported, for life.

Non-commissioned officers commemorate #PickleNight instead of Trafalgar Night, when HMS Pickle sailed home with news of the victory and Admiral Lord Nelson's death.
