Warmth, tradition, and the spirit of service filled Canongate Kirk as supporters gathered for the annual Tri-Service Benevolent Charities Carol Service. Hosted jointly by Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF), and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund (RAFBF), the evening brought together supporters, serving personnel, veterans, and families for a celebration rooted in community and remembrance.
The service offered a festive blend of carols, reflection and prayer, uniting attendees in the Christmas spirit while providing a meaningful opportunity for community engagement and charitable support.

Tonight’s service is a wonderful reminder of the strength and compassion within our Armed Forces community. It reflects the enduring commitment of RNRMC and our tri-service partners to those who serve, those who have served, and their families. We are deeply grateful to our supporters in Scotland whose contributions enable us to continue delivering vital, life-changing assistance across the Armed Forces community.
Representatives from RNRMC, ABF, and RAFBF expressed their sincere thanks to Rev Neil Gardner, Minister of Canongate Kirk, for hosting the service; the Rosyth & Edinburgh Military Wives Choirs - Conducted by Matthew Wilson and accompanied by Neil Metcalfe; Stephen Doughty, Organist; and all who attended and contributed to the event’s success.
The Rosyth & Edinburgh Military Wives Choir shared shared:
“As members of a Military Wives Choir, we are truly proud of our UK Armed Forces and all they stand for - courage, discipline, and dedication. Their commitment touches every corner of our lives, building a strong sense of community, belonging, and family. Together, we celebrate the service and sacrifice of our loved ones and all members of our Armed Forces.”
As the final notes of the carols echoed through the historic kirk, the evening drew to a close with a shared sense of gratitude, reflection, and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of the Armed Forces community - at Christmas and throughout the year.
