Sister duo “The Purple Spotted Dinosaurs” take on Race Across the UK

Event, Fundraising, General

Sisters Fleur and Chole, aka The Purple Spotted Dinosaurs, are taking on RNRMC’s Race Across the UK this summer, raising vital funds to support naval and marine personnel, families and veterans.

Fleur, a Training Management Officer in the Royal Navy, and Chloe, an Office Manager at a marine engineering firm, are both seasoned endurance athletes, used to long distance triathlons and open water swimming. However, they believe that Race Across the Uk, a multi-day team challenge traveling from Edinburgh to Dartmouth without modern navigation or transport, offers them a unique and unpredictable adventure.

We both love adventure and have been looking for something big to challenge ourselves. We're usually found participating in long distance racing (triathlon and swimming) so this is a bit of a change of pace for us and we're really excited to get stuck in.”

The pair were drawn to the event not just for the physical challenge but also the opportunity to support a cause that’s close to home. Fleur has directly benefitted from RNRMC sports funding during her service and recognises the importance of the charity’s broader mission.

RNRMC is an excellent charity that does great work supporting service people, both in their daily lives and when they face hardship.

With their sights set on winning the coveted Creative Commute award, the sisters are already planning their standout route style. But first, they’ve got a packed summer of sporting commitments: Fleur is tackling an Ironman, and Chloe is competing in the National Open Water Swimming Championships.

When asked what advice they’d give to others thinking of joining, their response was simple: Life is about doing all the crazy fun things. So just do it!
