From Service to Support: Scottish Veterans Join Forces for RNRMC’s Race Across the UK Challenge

Event, Fundraising, General

Royal Navy veterans and lifelong supporters of the Naval community, Natalie and Kris Lewis, are stepping up for a challenge that combines endurance, purpose, and giving back to the community that shaped their lives.

The husband-and-wife duo, known collectively as Team Lewis, will journey across the country as part of the multi-day Race Across the UK event, raising vital funds and awareness for RNRMC’s ongoing work with serving personnel, veterans, and their families.

The challenge, which tests both physical endurance and mental resilience felt like a natural step for the pair, who have shared years of service, family life, and community work within the Royal Navy.

“We’ve seen first-hand the difference RNRMC makes,” says Natalie.

From the first day of service to life beyond the military, RNRMC is there, providing support that’s both meaningful and lasting. Their work strengthens the Naval family, and we’re proud to play even a small part in helping them continue that mission.

Throughout their time in service and beyond, both Natalie and Kris have experienced the impact of RNRMC’s support – both directly and indirectly.

We’ve witnessed countless examples of the charity’s work,” Natalie continues. “From mess deck improvements that brought a more homely feel during deployments, to morale-boosting events that kept spirits high. We’ve also seen – and been involved in organising – funded wellbeing activities for families, giving them much-needed time to reset, connect, and feel supported."

The pair is most looking forward to the shared experience of the race, tackling something tough as a team, meeting other participants and inspiring more people to support RNRMC in any way they can.

To raise funds, Team Lewis has been actively engaging their local networks, spreading the word via social media, and encouraging donations of any size - reminding supporters that even the cost of a coffee can help improve the lives of sailors, marines, and their families.

If you’re even half-considering taking on a challenge like this, just go for it,” encourages Natalie. “It’s not just about the race, it’s about the people you meet, the sense of purpose, and knowing that your efforts are making a real difference.”
