This year, Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) has proudly supported Families Days across the UK and overseas, helping service personnel and their loved ones come together to celebrate, connect, and create lasting memories.
From HM Naval Base Portsmouth to HMS Vigilant, and from RNAS Culdrose to Gibraltar, these events included BBQs, summer socials, unit pass-outs, and interactive games, all designed to bring families closer and strengthen community ties. Families enjoyed connecting with others in the service community, taking part in fun activities, and celebrating milestones together.
Feedback from families and units highlighted the impact of these events...
We had not anticipated the full extent of the positive effect this would have on families. We had the families of some relatively new joiners who were surprised and thrilled to be able to attend an event at the unit like this. That will assist in their settling-in process, and I also firmly believe that the event will help with retention of our longer-serving reservists which is challenging in this current socio-political environment.
HMS Calliope
We feel that your grant support has been vital in maximising the morale of our SPs and their families, and also in recognising their recent exceptional work - ensuring they feel a sense of pride in their work. Thank you very much.
HMS Marham
This was well received by all. I feel this was able to make families feel a part of the unit knowing that they are not alone in the sacrifices that each family make when it comes to the ships company deploying. It was really nice to give something back, of which your contribution played a big part, so thank you for this. Unforeseen benefit - the fact that families have kept in touch with each other after meeting for the first time, something that could not of happened without this event.
HMS Artful
Across all events, RNRMC support helped strengthen community, boost morale, and ensure that service families feel valued and connected. From laughter over games to excitement at pass-outs, these Families Days have made a real difference.
RNRMC remains committed to supporting service families and helping them feel connected to the wider Royal Navy and Royal Marines community. To find out more about how to fund a Families Day or support our work, visit Apply for a grant | The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity
