Prior to their 9-month deployment, the ship's company of HMS Diamond spent some quality time with their loved once at a Families Day, funded in-part by The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), on board the Type-45 ship.

Around 400 of HMS Diamond's ships company brought their families and friends along for a day of games, presentations, and entertainment.

The day included a variety of activities from presentations in the ops room and a deployment briefing, to a magic show and face painting for those younger members of the family.

HMS Diamond, on Monday, left Portsmouth for a 9-month deployment. The type-45 destroyer, fresh from an extensive overhaul, will patrol the Gulf, taking over from HMS Monmouth.

The ship aims to protect sea lanes through the Gulf, thus maintaining UK trade.

HMS Diamond will work with NATO partners, including the US Carrier Strike Group, and maintain and develop ties with partners in the region.

Everyone at the RNRMC is delighted that the Families Day was a huge success and we wish the crew of HMS Diamond a safe deployment!
