Today, HMS Duncan welcomed families and close friends onboard for a special day at sea, offering loved ones the opportunity to meet the ship’s company and gain firsthand insight into life aboard a Royal Navy destroyer.

Capability demonstrations took place, showcasing the professionalism and skill of the ship’s company in a way that was both engaging and entertaining.

Supported by funding from Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), families' days like this help to ensure that families remain reassured, informed and connected to their serving loved ones.

From breakfast through to lunch, the day was filled with activity and laughter, with children enjoying entertainment onboard, including face painting and ballon art, while adults had valuable time to catch up and connect with one another.

Importantly, the day also created space for naval charities and support organisations set-up in the hangar to meet with personnel and families, helping to strengthen awareness of the support available whenever it may be needed.

Family days are a powerful reminder that while service life can bring periods of separation, the strength of the Naval family remains constant.

It’s been a fantastic day welcoming our families and friends onboard HMS Duncan as a way of expressing our gratitude for the endeavouring support they show to us throughout our ongoing deployments. We'd also like to extend a massive thank you to RNRMC and our other naval partners for the support they continue to show us and to our families and friends for their support today on HMS Duncan's family's Day.
