Naval Families Federation (NFF) provides vital support to serving personnel and their families who face the often complex and costly challenge of immigration. Thanks to funding from the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), this specialist service is helping more families than ever before.

Led by Royal Marine veteran Peter Hawley, Families Engagement Officer and Non-UK Lead, the service offers free, qualified immigration advice. Since its launch in 2020, the team has supported more than 1,250 cases, guiding families through applications that can otherwise cost thousands of pounds in legal fees.

Most of this work involves helping Commonwealth personnel bring their loved ones to the UK, but support is available to families from across the globe. Every case is personal, with Peter and his colleagues working closely with families to make the process as smooth and stress free as possible.

I would like to sincerely thank you and the NFF for your invaluable support throughout this journey. This wouldn’t have been possible without your guidance and encouragement.

With demand growing, RNRMC funding has supported NFF to expand the service by supporting an additional adviser, Sophie. This has doubled the team’s capacity and extended their reach to key bases, including HMS Sultan and Worthy Down. Peter also delivers regular briefings at HMS Raleigh, ensuring every cohort of non-UK recruits knows that support is available from the very beginning of their naval career.

The impact is life changing. From avoiding unnecessary legal costs to saving families more than £6,500 per person on the route to settlement, the service gives families security and peace of mind. Above all, it allows them to focus on their lives together, knowing they are not alone.

I'm pleased to learn that the Naval Families Federation provides complimentary immigration advice and support. Your offer is both generous and reassuring, and I look forward to benefiting from this service when we're prepared to proceed.

This is just one example of how, with your support, RNRMC funding helps our partner charities provide specialist services that make a real difference to the lives of naval families.

Please note that RNRMC funding is due to end in September 2027, therefore this the additional capacity is only funded for a period of time.
