After 24 years in the Royal Navy, Chief Petty Officer Justin Jordan-Davis faced the daunting challenge of resettlement and stepping into civilian life.

Career fairs left me frustrated,” he recalls. “Recruiters weren’t interested until I was just weeks from leaving.

That changed when Justin connected with the White Ensign Association (WEA) at a Service Leavers Event, where he met the WEA Compensation Advocacy and Support Officer. She explained the expert, personalised guidance that the WEA could provide to help him navigate his transition.

Justin describes that introduction as a turning point in his resettlement journey. The WEA’s Employment Consultant refined his approach and opened doors through the charity’s network of employers, a Career Mentor provided interview coaching, and one of the WEA’s Armed Forces Pensions Consultants ensured he understood his entitlements and options.

With support from the WEA's expert team, Justin felt empowered to take his next steps. He went on to secure a role with Amentum, seamlessly beginning a new and successful chapter beyond the Royal Navy.

Through grants made by the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC), the White Ensign Association (WEA) provides free, independent and often life-changing support for service leavers. RNRMC funds the WEA’s Compensation Advocacy & Support Officer role, providing vital advocacy and guidance to serving and former Royal Navy personnel making claims and appeals under the Armed Forces Compensation Schemes for service-related injury or illness.

Together, RNRMC and WEA are ensuring no one navigates the changes and challenges of Naval life alone.
