Howard Peplow, Matt Brown, Danielle Setterfield and Jason Gay, PT staff from HMS Drake, took on a 500-mile cycle in 5 days in while raising money for both The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Cancer Research.

The team of 4 planned their journey so that they would pass 10 Premiership Rugby Clubs on the way to Twickenham Stadium, in time for the 100th Army vs Navy Rugby Match.

Our Twickenham100 campaign asked fundraisers to take on any challenge, so long as it was related to the number 100 (for the 100th Army vs Navy Rugby Match). The team from HMS Drake decided that they were going to go for 500 instead!

Scroll down to see how they got on...

Day 1, 56.7 miles in and meeting Exeter Chiefs

First stop for the team was Exeter Chiefs where they received good luck messages from the players and Tony Rowe the Chief Executive.

Next stop, Bath RFC

After 114.5 miles cycled on day 1, the team started off day 2 with a flying visit to Bath RFC and even got to meet a few of the players...

Bristol RFC and walking out onto Ashton Gate pitch

After 54 miles on day 2, the team had the chance to walk out onto the pitch at Bristol RFC, only to be back on their bikes shortly after and pedalling towards Gloucester...

...where they visited the Kingsholm Stadium

Worcester Warriors to Wasps

Day 3 saw the team cycle from the ground of Worcester Warriors to the Ricoh Stadium, home of Wasps. They even got the chance to meet Joe Lauchbury, who plays as Lock for Wasps.

330 miles in the bag, 118 to go on day 4

12 weeks prior to this and the team of 4 had barely cycled a mile between them, 3 didn't even own a bike!

3 days into their challenge, you could forgive them for being a bit tired!

But on they went...

Tigers and Saints

Day 4 and the team walked out on to the pitches of both Tigers and Saints!

Pit-stop at Saracens, almost there

The team received a fantastic reception at Saracens as they prepared for the final leg of their 5-day challenge. Feeling ever wearier now...

Home and dry, the team arrive at Twickenham!

At around 7.00pm on Friday, the team finally arrive after an incredible 500 miles travelled in 5 days. A drink in front of the famous ground was very much deserved!

Congratulations to Howard, Matt, Danielle and Jason!

An incredible accomplishment and total raised for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. We hope you enjoyed the 100th game between the Army and Royal Navy and thank you from everyone at The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity!
