Sailors from HMS Raleigh are embarking on a 155-mile walk from Land’s End to Plymouth Hoe to raise money for charity.

The team of nine is made up of staff from the Defence Maritime Logistics School, which provides training to Royal Navy chefs, stewards, writers, supply chain specialists and logistics branch officers.

Setting off on Thursday 7 September the team will walk on average 26 miles per day along the South Cornwall National Trail stopping at Praa Sands, Coverack, Falmouth, Mevagissey and Polperro.  They aim to reach Plymouth Hoe by mid-day on Tuesday 12 September.

Walk organiser Petty Officer Jim Cox said:  “The main beneficiary of the walk will be the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.  It’s a great charity which supports both serving and former sailors and Royal Marines, and their families. We wanted to do something that was challenging both mentally and physically’’
