The beginning of the Royal Navy's Christmas celebrations have been marked by a traditional Admiralty Carol Service in St. Martin in the Fields Church, London, 28 November.

The annual event has fast become a converging point for the Royal Navy, City of London supporters, and Navy’s chosen charity, The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity.

The Admiralty Service Carols mark the first of several military festive services. The evening combined traditional carols with a drinks reception, hosted by the First Sea Lord, Admiral Sir Philip Jones, in the crypt.

Speakers at the Service included Chaplain of the Fleet Ian James Wheatley, who reflected on of the work of the Royal Navy throughout the year - particularly it's role in rescuing refugees in international seas - and also representatives from sponsors ESRI UK, to whom the Royal Navy and its charity are grateful.
