We're pleased to report that the team behind Red, White and Blue Day 2014 are extending the deadline for entries to its annual children's Christmas card design competition.

With interest in this year's competition growing day-by-day, the team has pushed back the official closing date for schools to Tuesday 11 March.

This year's competition not only honours today's serving families, by raising money for a number of military charities, but also pays tribute to those whom have served before.

That's because designs for this year's competition will centre around the Centenary of World War One, giving schoolchildren the opportunity to come up with images from any home or front line efforts, or related activity, over the last 100 years.

The competition is open to all schools; however, schools need to make sure they register to take part in both RWBDay14 (14 October) and the Christmas card competition.

Separate designs will be chosen by each charity taking part (The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, ABF The Soldiers' Charity and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity) -  and the winner will receive a prize in addition to seeing their winning design made into a card and sold for Christmas 2014.

Information about the competition, including a dedicated template, can be found on www.redwhiteblueday.co.uk.
