The Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (RMCTF) is auctioning off a brand new Aston Martin with the challenge of making more funds than the value of the car available for the Royal Marines Family.

The car was donated by entrepreneur, philanthropist and RMCTF trustee David Weil. His intention was that the RMCTF raise at least double the car’s value. The Royal Marines Prize Draw was born and hopes to raise an incredible £1million to support serving and retired Royal Marines through life.

Tickets, which are priced at £10, went on sale on Monday 2 February with the closing date Friday 4 September 2015. Throughout the summer the RMCTF fundraising team will be taking the car to events across the country to promote the draw, these include Army v Navy Rugby game at Twickenham in May and Bournemouth Air Festival in August.

Every donation makes a huge difference

Richard Kenworthy, Head of Fundraising and Marketing for the RMCTF said: “This is a huge challenge and as Royal Marines are not known for backing down from a challenge we didn’t think that we could either, that said we have not entered this lightly.

"We are confident that we have conducted the appropriate planning and governance to make this venture a success and can confidently say that we have not been frivolous and are not gambling with charity income.

"We can therefore assure you that a minimum of £9 from every £10 ticket bought will come directly to the RMCTF. So in buying tickets for this draw you are in effect donating at least £9 to the RMCTF with the added chance that you may also become the proud owner of this fantastic vehicle."
