Name:
Steven Johns (a.k.a Johno)

How long have you volunteered for RNRMC? Over four years.

How did you get involved? I am ex-navy, and now work in the armoury at HMS Collingwood. I am also in charge of the maintenance of the field guns used in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity Field Gun Competition.

What volunteering do you do? I started out by organising retiring collections at performances of the RN Theatre Association and HMS Collingwood Theatre Association. I then offered to be a collection tin co-ordinator, swapping tins over from various sites on the naval base and local shops and businesses. When work permits I also help out at events such as Bournemouth Air Festival.

Why do you volunteer? I love being able to make a difference to help people in need. I have lots of fun and get to meet some great people. The RNRMC fundraising team are very friendly and supportive.

Johno has helped to raise over £7,000 for the RNRMC. If you would like to find out more about volunteering please visit https://www.rnrmc.org.uk/volunteer-for-us
