Bagpipe The World is one ladies epic fundraising challenge to travel 50,000 miles across 7 continents in just 50 days whilst playing her beloved bagpipes in 12 iconic locations. Return to our blog for a regular update on Irene's progress!

Irene Robinson has kicked off her challenge with a bang in the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York. Blowing her bagpipes in the 84-year-old hall, with the capacity of 6,015, ticks off the first of the 12 worldwide iconic locations she will be visiting.

Irene said: "It was a sharp crisp day when I arrived on Monday but bitterly cold in New York City. I was up early and pinching myself that I was going to be playing in the iconic Radio City Music Hall. It is a huge stage but overall because of the design, it felt very comfortable. I played my pipes and we took photos. I am feeling very happy that I am now putting into fruition what I have been working hard to achieve. I value all the fantastic support that everyone is giving me.

"Next stop Alcatraz."

This challenge is in an effort to raise £50,000 for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and Julia’s House. You can donate to her cause at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/bagpipetheworld
