The event, which is hosted by Yeovil Town Road Running Club (RRC), attracted 280 runners this year and the race was started by record-breaking Steve Edwards and Invictus Gold Medallist Sean Gaffney.

Bryn Phillips, who organised the event, was delighted with the turnout and the amount of money that they managed to raise for the RNRMC.

“It is worth all the hard work when you see the elation on the faces of the athletes when they cross the finish line,” said Bryn.

“It’s an added bonus that we can also raise money for two worthwhile military charities and this year we are proud to say we have raised £5,000 for The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and the Yeovilton Military Wives Choir, giving them a cheque for £2,500 each.”

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity would like to thank Bryn, the event organisers and all the runners for hosting such a successful event and raising an incredible amount of money for us in the process.

Next year’s Yeovil Marathon will be held on the 11 June 2017 at RNAS Yeovilton and entries are already open.
